About AplosAplos Software began with Tim Goetz. As the executive pastor of a church, one of Tim's roles was to help oversee the accounting function for the church. In 2007, Tim was using Quickbooks Small Business Edition. Because his software did not practice fund accounting as non-profit organizations are supposed to do, Tim began looking for an alternative accounting software that was a better fit for his church. After a month of searching online and asking for referrals from other church accountants, Tim was unable to find a suitable alternative. So, he decided to create one. Much of Aplos Software was written based on the comments and frustrations of the people Tim spoke with when searching for uncomplicated, reliable church software. Many said their current software was not easy enough to use ("too many features that I'll never need or use"), or that there was a lot of double entry they had to do, or that the software was not flexible for their needs. Tim wanted to write software that anyone could use, would give the user confidence that they were accounting properly and at the same time would be dynamic and allow the user flexibility. We are working hard to build our first web-based product but currently we have two desktop editions. One edition was designed specifically for churches and the other was designed specifically for nonprofits. You do not need to be a CPA Aplos is simple. You do not need a ton of time Aplos is efficient. You do not need to be boxed in by a one-size-fits-all software Aplos is flexible.
